My old computer was running windows xp and I could click on pictures in posts and they would open larger. Ever since I have been using my new computer with windows 8, I am unable to do that. I know other people are able to because a photo might say "viewed 92 times". It makes no difference whether I use Google Chrome or IE. What gives? Wendy

I see the same thing with Win7. Haven't been able to figure it out.

I think it all has to do with increasing the file size allowable for pictures. Most seemed to want to increase the size, so Lance went with it. Hopefully Lance will check in to verify if my recollection is correct.

I much preferred the old way as well, where only a thumbnail of each image would load on the page ...much faster page loading, easier to read the posts and follow the thread, and yet any pictures of interest could be enlarged easily with a click.

I'm running Windows 7; some pics open to a larger image, some don't. I figured it was the OS/browser. The details in the smaller images are hard to see, so yeah, I get bugged.

Wendy

Right click on the image, then select "View Image". Picture will come up in a new window, then you can zoom the picture, if you wish, using the "View" tab at the top of your browser.

Bob, I tried what you said and opened the image in a new tab. There was no way to zoom that I could find. My question is.. how come 94 other people are able to view it? I understand there have been changes made to the way photos are presented. But that doesn't explain why some of us can, and some of us can't.

If I'm not mistaken, someone, not sure who, didn't like clicking on the thumbnails to look at the full sized picture, so Lance changed it to just publish full sized. Therefore, when someone uploads a picture, their upload size determines the final posting size of the picture, and it publishes full sized. Also, a lot of folks publish from host sites like photobucket, and they publish full sized, always. Full sized pictures do slow down the loading.

So then everytime someone views a discussion it reads as pictured viewed. Is that correct?

No Chris, it doesn't work that way. I just looked at a subject that had 260 views, but one of the pictures was viewed only 188 times. That means that 72 of us were not able to view it however the other 188 were able to. That's what has me confused. What are they able to do with that picture that I can't do? Wendy

Wendy, I believe the way the forum works now is that all pictures on the page that were added as attachments will open to full size each time the thread is viewed by a logged in member. Pictures added after x number of visits to a particular thread will show only the number of member visits since the pic was added. There is no way to see how many times someone actually looked at a particular picture (i.e. opened a thumbnail) like it used to be. At least this is how it works for me using IE, Chrome and Android browsers.
